About the fund.

Cultural Heritage Support Fund "Okhta" was officially registered on 14 June, 2007 in Saint Petersburg (GRN 1077800022112). Fund's founder and general sponsor is "Gazprom Neft" Company.

THE AIM.

To initiate and develop large projects both in culture and arts and in science, as well as in other areas
of human activities, aimed at promoting the harmonic development of the modern man in the new times and new economic situation in the country, to pay special attention to educational work among young people and
to strengthening regional, inter-ethnical and cross-cultural relations.

THE CONCEPT.

As a public organisation the Fund carries out a wide range of activities.
The general concept of the project includes the following basic components:

HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY.

The historical and archaeological exhibition of  the "Nyenskans" Museum is the visiting card of Okhta Fund.
The museum of history and archaeology is a project that provides social services to all members of the public.
The Museum includes permanent displays and a space for temporary exhibitions. The permanent displays show artefacts found on the territory of Landskrona and Nyenskans, former Swedish fortresses. The area for temporary exhibitions is used for diverse exhibitions - on history, archaeology, ethnography etc. Museum's special feature is maintaining interconnections between research work, the latest achievements in science (archaeology) and planned exhibition activities.

EXHIBITION PROJECTS.

Our Fund actively cooperates with many St. Petersburg's Museums, such as the State Russian Museum, the Central Navy Museum, the Music and Theatre Museum, the Museum of Dolls, and many others. This gives us opportunities to organize various interesting exhibitions, e.g. in modern arts, photography or the history of costume. Also with the support of the Fund travelling exhibitions are regularly arranged that show works of modern arts from St. Petersburg in other cities. Actually the Fund is starting a new period in communications between Russian smaller cities and towns and major cities like Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

In the past travelling exhibitions for the regions under a state program were organized only by major museums, such as the Russian Museum and the Hermitage Museum, while lesser museums practically never showed their collections outside the city. We show to the public artistic works, such as works of modern art, which are not covered by major state museums. Another component in this line of activities is organizing exhibitions of artistic works from other regions in Saint Petersburg.

PUBLISHING ACTIVITIES.

The Fund publishes in various periodicals educational articles on the results of our own or joint research work. Their main purpose is to give this information to as many readers as possible, to show them something new and unknown in an interesting and easy to understand form. We also provide support to others in publishing materials on historical and archaeological topics.

INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT.

We also organize mass cultural events that in interesting and entertaining forms inform the younger generation about the history of their country and people.
